Senior Power Plant Operator – US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced Senior Power Plant Operator to support a critical US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operation of either the North Power Plant (NPP) or South Power Plant (SPP) during assigned shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all plant operations during the shift, adhering to policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Coordinate power demand and equipment operation between NPP and SPP to maintain continuous power delivery.
• Monitor and manage generators, switchboards, fuel supply, air compressors, radiator fans, and auxiliary systems.
• Conduct routine inspections, pre‑operation checks, operational monitoring, and post‑operation reviews.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions, implement corrective actions, and minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate shift logs, operational data, and performance reports.
• Train and mentor shift personnel on procedures and emergency response.
• Collaborate with the Electrical Utility Manager and other supervisors on policy implementation and maintenance scheduling.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of power plant operations experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of power generation systems and large‑scale demand coordination.
• Ability to work effectively in a high‑demand, remote environment.
