Small Business Relationship Manager

About the role

The Small Business Relationship Manager will own a portfolio of small‑business customers, delivering proactive relationship management and driving growth through cross‑selling and new‑client acquisition. The role sits at the heart of the bank’s commercial offering, ensuring customers receive reliable support and a high‑quality service experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and nurture a portfolio of small‑business clients, building long‑term relationships.
• Develop and execute sales strategies to deepen product penetration and promote cross‑selling of the full corporate product suite.
• Identify and acquire new‑to‑bank customers, increasing market share.
• Collaborate with specialists such as Trade Finance and Treasury to maximise product sales.
• Deliver excellent customer service, improve Net Promoter Score, and handle complaints promptly.
• Prepare call reports, maintain customer credit files, and update the Customer Relationship Plan.
• Conduct company visits, give product presentations, and foster links with the local business community.
• Promote the use of digital channels and ensure compliance with Absa Group policies, KYC, and risk management guidelines.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development and relationship management within a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong focus on achieving sales and income targets.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service orientation.
• Commitment to compliance, risk controls, and adherence to internal policies.
