SOC Analyst – Level 1 (Entry-Level Cybersecurity)

About the role

We are looking for a SOC Analyst Level 1 to join the Rank Group’s security operations centre. This entry‑level position is the first line of defence, monitoring real‑time threats and working with AI‑driven tools to protect our digital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM dashboards to detect potential threats and filter false positives.
• Conduct initial investigations by analysing source IPs, user activity and endpoint telemetry.
• Create detailed incident tickets and reports to support compliance and further analysis.
• Escalate confirmed or high‑risk alerts to Tier 2 analysts with full context.
• Validate automated detections from AI‑powered SOC tools and execute SOAR playbooks.
• Assist with basic remediation actions such as isolating compromised hosts or disabling accounts following SOPs.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or equivalent practical experience (desirable).
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, GSEC or Certified SOC Analyst (CSA) (desirable).
• Willingness to work a 24/7/365 shift rotation, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Required skills

• Experience with SIEM platforms, especially Palo Alto environments.
• Hands‑on use of EDR/XDR tools for endpoint investigation.
• Understanding of cloud‑native logging from AWS CloudTrail, Azure Activity Logs and Kubernetes.
• Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS) and familiarity with Wireshark.
• Basic scripting ability in Python or PowerShell.
