Solid Waste Disposal Supervisor

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Solid Waste Disposal Supervisor to lead a team of hazardous waste personnel supporting a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures safe, compliant handling, storage, and removal of hazardous materials while mentoring staff on best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Train and mentor department personnel on operating Hazardous Waste Accumulation and Storage Areas.
• Implement ground safety programs to meet contract specifications and host installation requirements.
• Conduct workplace safety inspections and ISO inspections according to SOPs.
• Provide briefings, training, and guidance on OSHA general industry safety, HAZMAT communications, and Employee Right to Know.
• Gather and report data for scheduled and unscheduled safety reporting.
• Support host installation MSDS program and monitor proper storage, use, and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
• Act as point of contact for contractor‑generated HAZWASTE collection and shipping preparation.
• Review safety documents, identify trends, and initiate corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven ability to supervise hazardous waste operations and lead a safety‑focused team.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ANSI, and NFPA standards.
• Experience with safety inspections, incident reporting, and corrective action processes.
• Familiarity with U.S. and international import/export regulations related to hazardous materials.
