Technical Monitoring Engineer (Automotive/Heavy Machinery)

About the role

The Technical Monitoring Engineer will monitor the health and performance of automotive and heavy‑machinery assets from BIA’s dispatching centre in Mauritius. Working with internal teams, customers and partners, the role analyses condition data, creates actionable insights and supports preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide remote monitoring services for BIA operations under SmartFleet contracts.
• Generate timely reports and analyses, adding value through KPI‑based performance monitoring.
• Define and maintain proactive alerting rules (e.g., Qlik alerting) to detect true alarms.
• Conduct total‑cost‑of‑ownership (TCO) saving analyses and advanced cross‑data reporting.
• Maintain and develop dashboards for machine performance, health monitoring and misuse detection.
• Develop predictive‑maintenance analyses, strategies and ad‑hoc dashboards based on business needs.
• Create statistical tools and automation to highlight data exceptions quickly.
• Provide consulting, implementation planning and assessment of SmartFleet solutions to customers.
• Organise and deliver training sessions for operations teams and customers, and update e‑learning modules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of experience in industrial asset maintenance, machine set‑up and diagnostics.
• Experience with data and statistical analysis is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; French is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast‑evolving business environment and act as a self‑starter.
