Technical Support Engineer – Heavy Equipment

About the role

The Technical Support Engineer will lead after‑market technical assistance for trucks, buses, engines and power generators across Africa. Reporting to the Technical Support Manager, you will ensure high‑quality support, claim recovery and continuous improvement of OEM relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely, high‑quality technical support for breakdown and service cases to internal after‑market customers.
• Ensure compliance with OEM claims, technical obligations and manage the full claim value chain.
• Develop and maintain quality feedback processes and distribute OEM technical information throughout the organization.
• Prepare and submit reports, statistics and progress updates to BIA management.
• Conduct remote and on‑site investigations of major technical issues, coordinating with OEMs and customers.
• Lead regular meetings and monthly reporting on technical issues, factory campaigns and OEM obligations.
• Support the deployment of digital solutions for technical investigations and develop new advanced support projects.
• Promote best‑practice sharing across countries and escalate high‑urgency issues to management.

Required profile

• Mechanical or electro‑mechanical engineering diploma or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Technical Engineer in heavy equipment or automotive sectors.
• Experience with Foton, MAN trucks & buses, Cummins engines or power generators is an advantage.
• Proficiency with MS Office; AI/automation skills and SAP knowledge are a plus.
• Fluent English communication skills.
