Technology Risk Manager

About the role

The Technology Risk Manager will lead the Digital Transformation and Technology Risk function at Absa Bank Mauritius, ensuring that all technology controls meet the bank’s policies, standards and regulatory requirements. The role provides independent oversight, testing and monitoring of controls and delivers a risk‑focused view across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage technology and project risk across the bank, providing impartial and independent assessments.
• Drive technology risk initiatives locally and in coordination with regional offices.
• Ensure digital projects comply with risk policies, standards and governance frameworks.
• Own risk assessments, reporting and self‑assessment exercises to demonstrate control effectiveness.
• Draft, enhance and implement policies, processes and security frameworks, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
• Represent the Digital Transformation function in risk forums at country, regional and group level.
• Act as first point of contact for all technology audit and assurance exercises and ensure timely closure of observations.
• Oversee vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, ensuring identified gaps are remediated promptly.
• Manage third‑party/vendor risk in line with Absa standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in technology risk and project risk management within a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and enterprise risk management frameworks.
• Ability to work independently, provide objective risk insights and influence senior stakeholders.
