Trainee Industrial Engineer – Manufacturing Excellence

About the role

Join CDL Knits Ltd’s Industrial Engineering & Continuous Improvement team as a Trainee Industrial Engineer. You will gain hands‑on experience in a dynamic textile manufacturing environment across Mauritius and Madagascar, supporting projects that drive productivity, quality and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
• Support waste‑reduction, Kaizen workshops and process‑optimization activities.
• Collect, analyse and report production data; monitor operational performance indicators.
• Assist in root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action implementation.
• Conduct time‑and‑motion studies, line‑balancing and workforce‑planning exercises.
• Help improve workstation and factory layouts and learn capacity‑planning techniques.
• Gain exposure to fabric and garment manufacturing operations and regional projects.

Required profile

• Recent graduate in Industrial, Manufacturing, Production & Operations Management, Mechanical, Mechatronics or related engineering discipline.
• Curious, eager to learn and analytical with strong attention to detail.
• Passionate about problem solving and comfortable working with numbers and data.
• Effective communicator, team player and adaptable to new challenges.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
