Waiter - Restaurant Service

About the role

Casela is looking for a waiter to join its team. The waiter acts as a runner between the kitchen and the restaurant, bringing food and beverages from the kitchen to the dining area and clearing empty trays. The role covers serving food and drinks in restaurants and bars, as well as at outside catering functions, providing efficient and prompt service to guests.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome and direct guests to their seats, present the menu and wine list and take accurate food and beverage orders.
• Recommend menu items, answer questions about ingredients and accommodate special requests such as dietary restrictions.
• Follow instructions from the chef de rang, supervisors and managers on daily planning and organisation.
• Perform mise-en-place of tables and service stations as instructed.
• Serve food and beverages according to the quality standard of service.
• Keep the workplace clean, ensure speedy service in your assigned area and present bills prepared by the cashier, making sure they are signed or paid.
• Handle guests' feedback on service quality and suggestions for improvement.
• Handle materials and equipment carefully, participate in inventory taking and report faults in utilities such as lights, fans and toilets.
• Move between sections and outlets, including outside the restaurant perimeter during the day.

Required profile

• A CAP or a certificate of equivalent standard.
• Working experience is a definite advantage.
• Fluent in English and French.
• Good physical health, as the job involves standing for most of the day.
• Willingness to work shifts, odd hours, Sundays, public holidays and cyclonic days.
• Pleasant, polite and courteous, neat, tidy and smartly dressed in uniform.
