Chief Executive – Banking

About the role

The Chief Executive will report to the Chairman and the Board, providing overall strategic leadership for a major bank operating under Bank of Mauritius regulations. This high‑impact role is responsible for driving sustainable growth, profitability, and long‑term shareholder value while ensuring robust governance and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the approved bank strategy, delivering Balanced Scorecard objectives and disciplined balance‑sheet management.
• Lead growth initiatives across all market segments, with a focus on Segment B, in line with the Board’s expectations and risk appetite.
• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction, fair treatment, and strong conduct standards.
• Drive cultural transformation to make the bank an employer of choice, embedding accountability, performance discipline, and succession planning.
• Oversee digital banking transformation, fintech partnerships, data governance and cybersecurity resilience.
• Ensure full compliance with prudential guidelines, AML/CFT, sanctions, data protection, and corporate governance codes.
• Manage enterprise‑wide risk covering credit, market, operational and liquidity risks.

Required profile

• Proven C‑suite experience in a regulated banking environment.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering profitable growth.
• Deep understanding of governance, risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to lead large, complex transformation programmes.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, including interaction with boards, regulators and key partners.
