Harbor Port Pilot (Diego Garcia)

About the role

The Harbor Pilot will provide navigation assistance, vessel positioning, and coordinate daily harbor schedules for a government contract on Diego Garcia. The role requires 24/7 availability for urgent government or program leadership needs.

Key responsibilities

• Support harbor piloting services to ensure proper navigation and vessel positioning.
• Prepare daily Harbor Schedule in coordination with the Port Officer.
• Support ship movements, docking evolutions, and monitor harbor activities.
• Develop, implement, and monitor harbor strategies, policies, and programs.
• Ensure compliance with permits, regulatory standards, record keeping, reporting, training, inspections, and data reporting.
• Participate in safety, quality, and procedural compliance activities as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• First Class Unlimited Pilot License for the port (USCG 46 CFR Part 10.07) or NEC 0215 qualification with exemplary Navy Pilot record.
• Minimum three years’ leadership experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi‑national workforce (highly desired).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US passport, driver’s license, Secret US Government Clearance, and meet PACOM medical requirements.
• US citizenship required.

Required skills

• First Class Unlimited Pilot License (USCG) or NEC 0215 qualification.
• Navigation and vessel positioning expertise.
• Knowledge of international, USG, PWS, and program regulatory requirements.
