Maintenance Assistant

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant will support the smooth operation of the workplace by keeping buildings, equipment and facilities safe, functional and welcoming. Working closely with external contractors and internal teams, the role involves routine upkeep, minor repairs and rapid response to maintenance requests.

Key responsibilities

• Work with external contractors to support maintenance activities.
• Assist with routine upkeep of buildings, furniture, fixtures and equipment.
• Carry out minor repair tasks such as plumbing, painting, carpentry and basic electrical work.
• Perform regular facility checks and report any issues.
• Contribute to preventive maintenance programmes.
• Set up rooms, furniture or equipment for meetings, events and office changes.
• Monitor cleanliness and condition of offices, common areas and storerooms.
• Coordinate with service providers as needed.
• Maintain tools and supplies in an organised and secure manner.
• Respond quickly to maintenance requests from team members and assist with urgent repairs.
• Follow all health and safety procedures during tasks.

Required profile

• Minimum School Certificate or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience in a similar maintenance role.
• Basic understanding of building maintenance and repair tools.
• Hands‑on experience with minor electrical, plumbing, painting or carpentry tasks.
• Ability to spot issues early and escalate when needed.
• Works well independently and as part of a team.
• Good time‑management and record‑keeping skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices.
• Reliable, proactive, detail‑oriented and able to stay calm under pressure.
• Training or certification in electrical, plumbing or building maintenance is an advantage.
• Experience in office building maintenance is a plus.
