Safety Inspector (US Navy Program)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Safety Inspector to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures compliance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers safety standards and promotes a safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a Safety Program in line with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and monitoring to assess compliance with safety standards and site‑specific requirements.
• Prepare and maintain detailed Safety Inspection and Monitoring Reports.
• Investigate incidents, produce incident reports, and recommend corrective actions.
• Review, modify, add, or delete safety records for assets to ensure accurate documentation.
• Perform risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Monitor work sites to ensure safety measures and equipment are correctly used and functional.
• Provide guidance, training, and support to site personnel on safety procedures.
• Maintain all safety‑related documentation and records in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with leadership, supervisors, and contractors to align safety goals with operational objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in safety inspection, program implementation, or a related role, preferably in a government or military environment.
• Familiarity with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual and other applicable safety standards.
• Ability to prepare and maintain comprehensive safety reports, incident records, and asset safety documentation.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessments, and corrective action development.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications and safety‑related record‑keeping software.
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the deployment duration.
