Food Service Worker

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Food Service Worker to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves preparing, presenting, and serving a variety of food items in a cafeteria, delicatessen, or bakery setting while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, assemble, and serve hot and cold food items, including sandwiches, salads, bakery products, and specialty meats.
• Follow standardized recipes, portion control guidelines, and food preparation procedures.
• Weigh, price, wrap, package, and label food items for display and sale.
• Greet customers, answer menu questions, and provide courteous service.
• Process customer orders, handle cash and electronic payments accurately.
• Receive, inspect, and store food products following inventory and safety protocols.
• Clean and sanitize preparation areas, equipment, and work surfaces.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Support team members during peak periods and complete operational checklists.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in food service, hospitality, cafeteria, restaurant, bakery, or institutional food service.
• Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and safe preparation practices.
• Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and written instructions.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
