Accountant / IT Administrator (Contract)

About the role

The Mahatma Gandhi Institute in Moka is advertising two contract positions, each for one year and renewable: Accountant/Senior Accountant and IT Administrator. Both posts are open to suitably qualified candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Bursar in accounting and financial management, keep fund records and help prepare financial statements.
• Prepare financial reports and make recommendations to the Bursar within established financial policy.
• Run the IT division: administer databases, systems and networks, install and maintain applications, databases and servers, and monitor capacity trends.
• Troubleshoot operating system, hardware and network problems, and develop and monitor security procedures against physical harm, viruses and unauthorised access.
• Assess hardware and software needs, manage computer supplies, analyse user needs for application software, back up servers and train staff.

Required profile

• Accountant: membership of a chartered accountancy body (England and Wales, Scotland, Ireland, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA) or an equivalent qualification accepted by the Council.
• IT Administrator: Cambridge HSC or two Advanced Level passes, or a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or Information Technology; at least three years' post-qualification experience in database, systems or network administration, with good problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
• Candidates must provide written evidence of qualifications and experience; age limit is 45 for non-government candidates.

What we offer

• Salary negotiable in the range of Rs 30,700 to Rs 69,800 (accountant) and Rs 31,525 to Rs 69,800 (IT administrator).
• Travel expenses refunded as per regulations.
• Gratuity of two months' salary after 12 months of satisfactory service.
