Assistant Housekeeping Manager

About the role

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager works closely with the Housekeeping Director to oversee daily housekeeping operations across staterooms, public areas, and open decks on a cruise ship. The role ensures compliance with safety, quality, and health standards while delivering a high level of guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, schedule, and supervise day‑to‑day housekeeping activities.
• Direct, coach, support, and evaluate the performance of housekeeping staff.
• Assign duties, workstations, and manage overtime requests.
• Conduct daily staff meetings to review itinerary changes, guest requirements, and operational updates.
• Handle guest concerns with empathy, follow‑up, and ensure resolution.
• Perform ten stateroom inspections daily and additional checks during embarkation.
• Maintain sanitation, SQM, and safety logs.
• Manage inventories of linen, amenities, and supplies.
• Create requisitions and oversee cost‑containment measures.
• Inspect workstations and lockers to prevent waste and deterioration.

Required profile

• Previous experience supervising housekeeping teams, preferably in a cruise or hotel environment.
• Strong knowledge of ISM/ISO, SQM, USPH, and environmental safety standards.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff for future advancement.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
