Assistant Laundry Manager (Shipboard)

About the role

The Assistant Laundry Manager supports the Laundry Master in overseeing the daily operations of a shipboard laundry facility. This position ensures that all linen, uniforms, and guest items are processed efficiently, meet quality standards, and comply with safety and hygiene regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise crew members working in the laundry and coordinate with housekeeping, food & beverage, and other departments.
• Maintain equipment through a preventative maintenance program and ensure timely repairs.
• Inspect dryers daily for lint buildup and correct temperature ranges.
• Oversee sorting of linen by color and removal of garbage before processing.
• Check finished products at the end of each cycle to verify quality.
• Handle guest concerns and resolve operational issues according to onboard guidelines.
• Set washing formulas and cycles for different types of linen and soil levels.
• Ensure work areas and equipment remain clean, sanitized, and organized.

Required profile

• Minimum two years experience as an Assistant Laundry Master on a 4‑ or 5‑star hotel, cruise ship, or comparable upscale operation.
• Strong technical proficiency with laundry machinery and supplies.
• Ability to lead, manage, and direct a crew while exercising sound judgment.
