Certified Arborist

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Certified Arborist to support a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role focuses on maintaining healthy, well‑kept grounds across a variety of operational areas while complying with DoD regulations and contract standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain improved grounds, including prestige zones, POL areas, tanks, fence lines, pipelines, and berms to meet Service Level Standards (J‑1503050‑06).
• Trim and prune trees, shrubs, and plants to promote health, longevity, and aesthetic appearance.
• Perform vegetation maintenance around infrastructure such as fences, walls, signs, street lights, fire hydrants, sidewalks, parking lots, building perimeters, power poles, and valve boxes.
• Diagnose tree and plant health issues, identifying pests, diseases, and environmental stressors.
• Recommend and apply treatments, including fertilization, pest control, and irrigation adjustments.
• Operate and maintain chainsaws, pruners, shears, stump grinders, and other landscaping equipment safely.
• Document inspections, maintenance activities, and report findings per contract specifications.
• Coordinate with local facility management, utilities, and project stakeholders.
• Provide emergency response for storm damage, fallen trees, or other vegetation‑related incidents.

Required profile

• Current ISA Certified Arborist® credential or equivalent qualification.
• 2‑4 years of arboriculture or grounds‑maintenance experience, including tree health assessment, pruning, and pest/disease management.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with landscaping and tree‑care equipment.
• Knowledge of vegetation species, pruning techniques, disease diagnostics, and treatment best practices.
• Understanding of DoD landscaping and safety standards.
