About the role
We are seeking a Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to lead the risk function of a newly formed bank in Mauritius, “M Bank”. The CRO will shape the enterprise risk strategy, ensure regulatory compliance and support the bank’s growth in foreign‑currency services for international clients.
Key responsibilities
- Own and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management Framework covering all 21 risk categories.
- Develop and enforce credit risk policies, monitor the loan portfolio, manage non‑performing loans and oversee large‑exposure limits.
- Monitor market and liquidity risk, including FX positions, interest‑rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB), and manage LCR/NSFR through the ALCO.
- Coordinate ICAAP, conduct stress‑testing exercises and perform Pillar 2 capital assessments.
- Report independently to the Board Risk Monitoring Committee and ensure timely risk reporting.
Required profile
- Minimum 15 years of enterprise risk management experience in a banking environment, covering Basel III, credit, market and liquidity risk.
- At least 10 years of banking finance experience, including IFRS reporting and Bank of Mauritius prudential reporting.
- Qualified accountant (CA, CPA or ACCA).
