Customs Operational Team Leader Mauritius

About the role

Lead a new customs operations team based in Mauritius that supports business in Belgium and the Netherlands. You will be responsible for building a high‑performing team, embedding operational excellence and ensuring seamless collaboration across borders.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily declaration assignments and manage throughput during peak volumes.
• Review declaration samples, identify structural errors and provide coaching to team members.
• Ensure full compliance with customs legislation, AEO licence obligations, GDPR and internal audit requirements.
• Monitor declaration deadlines, escalate bottlenecks and handle client complaints in consultation with the Branch Manager.
• Identify manual, labour‑intensive processes and propose digitalisation routes via IDP, interfacing or automation.
• Lead, coach and develop team members through regular feedback, performance discussions and development plans.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of coordinating or team‑leadership experience in customs, logistics or supply‑chain operations.
• Solid knowledge of customs legislation, compliance requirements and operational processes.
• Degree or equivalent in customs, logistics, international trade, business administration or supply‑chain management.
• Strong command of written and spoken English.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop operational teams.

Required skills

• Experience with customs platforms, automation solutions or digital workflows (advantage).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
