Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (DMLRO)

About the role

The Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (DMLRO) will support the MLRO in overseeing NIT Ltd and NIT Unit Trust’s AML/CFT compliance program. Reporting to the MLRO, the DMLRO acts as the alternate contact for internal disclosures and ensures timely regulatory filings.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as DMLRO for NIT Ltd and NIT Unit Trust, assisting the MLRO in all duties.
• Act as the primary point of contact for internal disclosures when the MLRO is unavailable.
• Prepare and submit filings and communications to the Financial Intelligence Unit, including acting on behalf of the MLRO as needed.
• Receive and process asset‑freezing orders and sanction list updates, ensuring screening and reporting within statutory timeframes.
• Conduct regular testing and reviews of the AML/CFT framework for both entities.
• Execute delegated tasks in line with Mauritian laws and regulations.
• Prepare AML/CFT reports for the Board of Directors and senior management.
• Assume full MLRO responsibilities during the MLRO’s absence, as required by law and internal policy.

Required profile

• Must satisfy the Financial Services Commission’s fit‑and‑proper, competency and independence criteria.
• Minimum 5 years experience in the financial sector, or 3 years plus an AML/CFT certification (e.g., ACAMS, ICA).
• Strong knowledge of FIAMLA, FSC rules, FIU requirements and FATF standards.
• High integrity, sound judgment and ability to meet strict deadlines.
