Director of Sales – 5 Star Resort, East Africa

About the role

An accomplished Director of Sales is required to lead the international leisure sales strategy for a beautiful 5‑star resort in East Africa. This on‑property leadership role involves extensive travel across Europe and other key luxury leisure markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and execute the resort’s international leisure sales strategy, focusing on Europe.
• Develop and maintain relationships with luxury travel advisors, tour operators, wholesalers, consortia and key industry partners.
• Drive revenue and market‑share growth across priority international markets.
• Lead sales trips, roadshows, trade events and client engagement throughout Europe.
• Identify new business opportunities and strengthen the resort’s position within the global luxury travel market.
• Collaborate with the General Manager, Revenue, Marketing and Operations teams to deliver the overall commercial strategy.
• Lead, mentor and develop the on‑property sales team.

Required profile

• Significant senior sales experience within luxury hospitality (hotels, resorts, lodges or experiential travel).
• Strong and established European luxury leisure network.
• Proven track record of delivering revenue growth from international markets.
• Excellent understanding of luxury travel distribution and the European travel trade.
• Highly commercial, relationship‑driven and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Comfortable combining extensive international travel with hands‑on, on‑property leadership.
• East Africa experience is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; additional European languages are an advantage.
