External Compliance / Money Laundering Reporting Officer

About the role

The Apex Group is seeking an experienced External Compliance and Money Laundering Reporting Officer to oversee AML/CFT compliance for regulated client entities on its Mauritius campus. You will act as the MLRO/DMLRO/Compliance Officer, ensuring adherence to local regulatory requirements and supporting the business in maintaining robust compliance frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Act as MLRO/DMLRO/Compliance Officer for client entities and oversee the compliance monitoring programme.
• Conduct Customer Due Diligence (CDD) testing, transaction monitoring and prepare periodic reports for Boards of Directors.
• Monitor remedial actions, align AML/CFT policies with local regulations and perform annual business risk assessments.
• Assist with independent AML/CFT audits, regulatory inspections (off‑site and on‑site) and maintain required registers.
• Provide guidance on AML/CFT queries, design compliance reports and KPI dashboards.
• Draft and update AML/CFT policies, procedures and training materials.
• Train, coach and review the work of junior staff.
• Monitor regulatory developments, liaise with authorities such as FSC, ROC and FIU, and report KPI performance to line management.
• Maintain documentation in SharePoint/Citrix, update timesheets and complete compulsory training via the Knowledge Academy.

Required profile

• Proven experience acting as MLRO/DMLRO or Compliance Officer for regulated entities.
• Strong knowledge of local AML/CFT regulatory requirements (Mauritius).
• Ability to prepare and present Board‑level reports and conduct risk assessments.
• Experience assisting audits and regulatory inspections.
• Capability to provide guidance, train and supervise junior staff.
• Proactive monitoring of regulatory changes and effective liaison with authorities.
