Head of FX Trading

About the role

The Head of FX Trading leads the foreign exchange trading activities for the bank, driving sustainable revenue growth while ensuring a strong risk and control environment. Reporting into Global Markets, the role oversees the FX trading book, market risk, liquidity, pricing, execution, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver annual FX trading revenue and profitability targets.
• Expand the domestic and regional FX franchise, increasing market share and price competitiveness.
• Manage the FX trading portfolio within approved risk appetite and optimise utilisation of market risk limits.
• Identify and execute profitable trading opportunities across G10 and African FX markets.
• Develop new revenue streams through product innovation and pricing capabilities.
• Formulate tactical and strategic trading views based on macro‑economic analysis.
• Lead daily market strategy discussions and monitor trading performance.
• Mentor and develop the FX trading team, fostering collaboration with Sales, Structuring, Treasury, and Risk.
• Partner with Sales and CIB coverage to support large, complex client transactions.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, maintaining robust first‑line risk ownership.

Required profile

• Proven track record of delivering sustainable trading revenue and risk‑adjusted returns.
• Strong leadership, commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence senior management.
• Experience in managing FX trading books, market risk and liquidity.
• Deep understanding of global FX markets, including G10 and African currencies.
