Junior Cost Controller

About the role

The Junior Cost Controller will monitor and control the hotel’s operating costs, inventory, purchasing and revenue processes. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls and cost efficiency while supporting management to meet budget and profitability targets.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and verify daily revenue reports from Night Audit and reconcile them against budget.
• Monitor daily revenue, expenditure and operating costs to identify discrepancies and improvement opportunities.
• Track purchasing prices against market rates, quality standards and approved procedures.
• Organise and supervise monthly inventories across all departments, ensuring accurate stocktaking and reconciliation.
• Conduct regular stock and operational spot checks, reporting variances, losses and control issues to the Financial Controller.
• Monitor stock levels, slow‑moving items, equipment and fixed assets, maintaining appropriate controls.
• Ensure proper procedures for purchases, receipts, issues, sales and payments across operational departments.
• Collaborate with Executive Chef, Head Butcher, Head Pastry Chef and other heads of department on purchasing, stock control and cost optimisation.
• Prepare statistics, cost analyses and trend reports to support budgeting and forecasting.
• Monitor energy consumption and support sustainability and Eco Standards initiatives.

Required profile

• Higher School Certificate with Accounting and Mathematics at A‑Level or equivalent qualification.
• ACCA Level 1 and a valid Food Handler’s Certificate are an advantage.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a Cost Control or Finance role, preferably in hospitality.
• Strong computer literacy and fluency in English and French.
