Junior Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our small Mauritian consultancy that builds critical aviation systems. The role is full‑time, permanent and based on‑site in Grand Baie, reporting to a Senior Engineer and working closely with the technical director.

Key responsibilities

• Develop user‑facing screens and reusable components using Angular.
• Implement back‑end services, API endpoints and business logic in .NET (C#).
• Write and optimise SQL Server queries, including joins and performance tuning.
• Investigate, reproduce and fix bugs in a live production environment, adding automated tests.
• Participate in code reviews, both receiving feedback and eventually providing it.
• Track work items in Jira and manage code changes with Git feature branches and pull requests.

Required profile

• Fast learner who can work independently and seek out documentation.
• Strong desire to become a good engineer and continuously improve.
• Open to constructive feedback and able to communicate issues promptly.
• Reliable, punctual and able to meet deadlines.
• Clear written and spoken English communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience with at least one programming language and solid fundamentals.
• Basic proficiency in Angular.
• Familiarity with .NET (C#) development.
• Ability to write SQL queries with joins on SQL Server.
• Knowledge of Git workflows (branches, commits, pull requests).
• Experience using Jira for task tracking.
