Kitchen Helper / Driver

About the role

Constance Le Chaland, a luxury hotel on the south-eastern coast of Mauritius, is hiring a kitchen helper who also drives the food truck. The role supports chefs in food preparation and cleaning, and involves collecting food from the back of house to the main kitchen. The position is advertised through the recruiter Hosco.

Key responsibilities

• Food preparation support: wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit; prepare ingredients; portion and arrange food; support chefs during meal preparation and service.
• Drive the food truck to the back of house to collect food items and bring them to the main kitchen.
• Cleaning and sanitation: wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans and equipment; clean work surfaces, floors and storage areas; dispose of waste and recyclables; comply with health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Stock handling: receive and store deliveries, organize storage areas, report shortages, damage or expiry, and assist with inventory checks.
• General support: follow food safety and hygiene regulations, adhere to company policies, and assist with other kitchen duties assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food safety practices.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team, with good communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with good physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods.
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Food handlers certificate is mandatory.
• Driving licence is mandatory.
