Maître de Maison - Luxury Boutique Hotel, Mauritius

About the role

Maison 20 Degrés Sud, a Relais & Châteaux property, is seeking an experienced Maître de Maison to oversee the day-to-day operations of its luxury boutique hotel in Mauritius. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role ensures the smooth running of the property, the highest standards of service and guest experience, and a strong hospitality culture. It is a hands-on leadership position with a high degree of autonomy, coordinating department heads.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations across accommodation, front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, spa and nautical activities, and personally meet every guest and handle service recovery.
• Lead, support and develop department heads, contribute to recruitment, staff development and performance management, and foster a hospitality culture.
• Monitor budgets and operating costs, oversee maintenance, safety and operational standards, and identify improvements to efficiency and service quality.
• Uphold the Relais & Châteaux spirit and the property's identity and reputation.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience in hotel management.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in Mauritius.
• Proven management experience in a 5-star or higher luxury hotel, or a role supporting senior management with substantial operational responsibility.
• Hospitality management degree.
• Fluent spoken and written French and English.
• Willingness to accept a demanding, hands-on role with long and variable hours, evening and weekend duties, and on-site presence.
