Senior Claims Adjuster

About the role

As a Senior Claims Adjuster at Africa Specialty Risks, you will manage a portfolio of large and complex property and liability (re)insurance claims across multiple lines of business. Reporting to the Head of Claims, you will work closely with underwriting, actuarial and operations teams to ensure claims are investigated, reserved and settled in a timely, equitable and commercially sound manner.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Claims in building an African‑centric claims function that delivers first‑class service to reinsureds.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal partners (underwriting, operations, finance, actuarial) and external stakeholders (clients, brokers, capacity providers).
• Own the end‑to‑end handling of assigned claims, from first loss notification through to settlement, keeping all parties informed.
• Maintain and communicate key claims strategies and flow‑lines for significant losses, collaborating with underwriters and actuarial teams.
• Ensure all adjustments comply with internal policies and industry best practices.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in evaluating, investigating and managing large, complex property and liability (re)insurance claims.
• Strong technical knowledge of insurance and reinsurance claim processes.
• Excellent judgment and the ability to contribute to claims strategy development.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across underwriting, actuarial, operations and finance functions.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft concise reports and present updates to senior stakeholders.
