Senior External Auditor

About the role

Grant Thornton Mauritius is hiring a Senior External Auditor for a full-time, on-site position in Quatre Bornes. The role covers planning and executing external audit engagements, reviewing work papers, supervising junior team members and ensuring audit files are complete, accurate and delivered on time.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute external audit engagements, including risk assessment, internal control evaluation and detailed testing of financial statements in line with applicable auditing standards.
• Review work papers, supervise junior team members and ensure audit files are complete, accurate and delivered on time.
• Discuss findings with clients, prepare clear audit reports and recommend improvements to processes and controls.
• Collaborate with partners and managers on engagement budgeting and scheduling, and maintain strong client relationships while meeting professional, ethical and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Strong technical knowledge of auditing standards, accounting principles (e.g. IFRS) and financial reporting frameworks.
• Experience in audit planning, risk assessment, internal control evaluation and execution of audit procedures.
• Previous external audit experience, preferably at a professional services or audit firm, with exposure to various industries.
• Relevant professional qualification or progression toward one (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent) and a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Ability to lead, coach and supervise junior auditors, manage deadlines and handle multiple engagements at once.
• On-site availability in Quatre Bornes and flexibility for peak-period workloads.

Required skills

• Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills for interpreting complex financial and operational data.
• Effective written and verbal communication, including presenting findings to clients.
