About the role
NTU International is seeking a Senior Gender and Inclusive Transport Expert to support the EU‑funded Technical Assistance to ECOWAS in Transport Governance. The role will focus on integrating gender equality and social inclusion into transport policies, infrastructure planning and regional connectivity across West Africa.
Key responsibilities
- Support integration of gender equality and social inclusion into transport policies, infrastructure projects and corridor governance.
- Provide technical assistance on gender‑responsive infrastructure planning and equitable mobility approaches.
- Conduct gender and social inclusion assessments for transport and connectivity projects.
- Develop inclusive transport policies, action plans and operational frameworks.
- Advise ECOWAS institutions and Member States on gender mainstreaming and inclusive governance mechanisms.
- Promote participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in transport decision‑making.
- Prepare social analyses, policy recommendations, safeguard documentation and inclusion strategies.
- Coordinate with public institutions, civil society, development partners and regional stakeholders.
- Deliver workshops, consultations and capacity‑building activities on gender equality and inclusive transport.
- Contribute to monitoring, reporting and evaluation of gender mainstreaming activities.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in gender studies, social sciences, transport planning, development studies, sociology, public policy or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in gender equality, social inclusion, transport governance or development programmes.
- Proven experience on infrastructure, transport or social development projects in developing countries, preferably Sub‑Saharan Africa.
- Experience in international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
- At least 7 years of experience in gender mainstreaming, inclusive infrastructure or social inclusion initiatives.
