Senior Payroll Consultant - French Payroll

About the role

TMF Group is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Consultant to manage a portfolio of French payroll clients. You will act as a trusted advisor, ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing while maintaining full compliance with French labor and social security regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing for multiple French clients across various industries.
• Validate payroll data, including variable compensation, absences, overtime, bonuses and benefits.
• Handle employee lifecycle administration – onboarding, contractual changes and off‑boarding.
• Prepare and submit mandatory social declarations (DSN, URSSAF, pension, health insurance, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with French labor law, collective agreements and social security rules.
• Address complex payroll scenarios such as terminations, settlements, maternity leave, sick leave, expatriate cases and disciplinary procedures.
• Serve as the primary client contact for payroll and HR matters, providing guidance on legislation.
• Support payroll audits, internal reviews and compliance checks.
• Participate in process optimisation, automation and continuous improvement projects.
• Mentor junior payroll team members as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll, preferably French payroll.
• Strong knowledge of French payroll regulations, labor law and statutory reporting.
• Proven ability to manage payroll for multiple clients or entities from hire to retire.
• Experience in a payroll provider, consulting, accounting firm or HR outsourcing environment.
