Team Leader – International Payroll

About the role

A Team Leader is sought to supervise the payroll team and ensure high-quality, compliant delivery of payroll services across Africa and the Middle East. You will shape processes, support the team and make sure every payroll cycle runs smoothly, accurately and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, support, train and mentor the payroll team so that payroll is accurate, timely and compliant across multiple jurisdictions.
• Oversee the full payroll cycle, including salary calculations, benefits, taxes, deductions, reconciliations and statutory filings.
• Review and validate payroll outputs to keep the error rate low and quality high.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll changes, off-cycle payments (final salary, bonuses, commissions) and month-end requirements.
• Manage client relationships across jurisdictions, keeping services in line with SLAs and contractual obligations, and act as a key escalation point with clients' HR managers.
• Stay up to date with legislation and, with the software supplier, ensure full compliance across all payrolls under your remit.
• Maintain process documentation, SOPs and run quarterly reviews and updates; manage tasks and documentation in the case management system.
• Respond to client audits, identify process improvements and handle sensitive payroll and employee information with discretion.

Required profile

• Solid experience in payroll processing in various jurisdictions in Africa and the Middle East.
• Proven ability to lead, support and coach a team.
• Strong knowledge of payroll calculations, compliance, statutory requirements and reporting.
• Comfortable with audits, reconciliations, month-end and year-end activities.
• Excellent communication and client management skills, strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Fluent in English and French; additional languages are a plus.
