Associate Director – Reinsurance & Group Placement

About the role

The Associate Director will support OLEA’s placement and reinsurance activities across Africa, reporting to the Group Placement & Reinsurance Director. The role combines portfolio oversight, business development, and team leadership to strengthen OLEA’s market position.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the Group’s reinsurance portfolio, ensuring accurate contract registration and high‑quality data management.
• Identify growth opportunities and expand the Placement & Reinsurance function throughout Africa.
• Support subsidiaries in their reinsurance placements, coordinating with brokers and reinsurers to secure optimal solutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers, reinsurers, cedents, and internal stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes, reporting tools, and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and market best practices.
• Mentor and coach team members, identifying training needs and fostering professional development.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in insurance, risk management, finance, business or a related field.
• Professional insurance/reinsurance certification (e.g., CII) is highly desirable.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in insurance or reinsurance, with strong exposure to placement and broking activities.
• Proven experience managing and developing teams, including remote or geographically dispersed teams.
• Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to travel across OLEA’s business territories.
