Chief Electrician

About the role

Constance Prince Maurice, a luxury resort on the northeast coast of Mauritius, is hiring a Chief Electrician through its partner Hosco in Roches Noires. You will oversee all electrical systems and maintenance operations, ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the property's electrical infrastructure. The role calls for strong technical expertise, leadership and a commitment to high safety and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate electricians and electrical technicians.
• Plan and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical systems.
• Diagnose faults and repair electrical equipment and installations.
• Inspect wiring, switchboards, motors, generators, lighting and control systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, electrical codes and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs and equipment history.
• Coordinate maintenance with other engineering and operational departments.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
• Manage spare parts, tools and materials and recommend replacements.
• Assist with installation, modification and commissioning projects.
• Conduct safety inspections, ensure PPE use, respond to emergencies and train junior staff.
• Liaise with contractors and prepare maintenance reports for management.

Required profile

• Diploma, certificate or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience as chief electrician or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, industrial equipment and electrical safety.
• Experience with generators, motors, distribution panels, control systems and troubleshooting is an advantage.
• Good leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
