Crane Operator / Rigger Foreman

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced Crane Operator / Rigger Foreman to support a US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The role combines hands‑on crane operation with supervision of rigging personnel, ensuring all activities meet NAVFAC P‑307 standards and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate cranes safely and professionally in accordance with NAVFAC P‑307 and other applicable standards.
• Supervise and lead rigging personnel during all crane operations.
• Train riggers on proper hand‑signal usage and ensure compliance with NAVFAC P‑307 guidelines.
• Inspect rigging tools and equipment, confirming they are serviceable and meet operational standards.
• Prepare, review, and execute lift plans that align with safety and mission‑readiness requirements.
• Conduct routine crane inspections and maintenance to maintain operational effectiveness.
• Monitor occupational health and safety regulations throughout all crane and rigging activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating cranes and performing rigging operations.
• Training and certification that meet NAVFAC P‑307 standards.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining validity and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain them for the deployment duration.
