Estimating Engineer – Electrical

About the role

We are looking for an Estimating Engineer – Electrical to prepare material quantity and cost estimates for tender submissions and support the delivery of electrical projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare material quantity estimates and cost estimates for tender submissions.
• Carry out quantity take‑offs from drawings and compile Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Liaise with local and international suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
• Provide technical advice to clients and consultants on electrical engineering projects.
• Prepare and compile all supporting documentation required for tender submissions.
• Coordinate with Quantity Surveyors, Engineers and Contracts Managers during handover of awarded tenders.
• Assist with the design and development of electrical systems.
• Maintain and update client records using computerized database systems.

Required profile

• BEng in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in an estimating role, preferably within an electrical contracting environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical shop drawings and construction drawings.
• Registration with the CRPE is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficient use of MS Office applications.
• Ability to work with electrical shop drawings.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings.
