Customs Operational Team Leader

About the role

Lead and develop a new customs operations team in Mauritius supporting business in Belgium and the Netherlands. Ensure high‑quality, compliant customs declarations while driving digital maturity.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily declaration assignments, monitor throughput and deadlines, and escalate bottlenecks.
• Review declaration samples, identify errors, and coach team members.
• Ensure compliance with customs legislation, AEO licence, GDPR and internal audit requirements.
• Identify manual processes and propose digitalisation via IDP, interfacing or automation.
• Lead process‑improvement initiatives and contribute to KPI reporting.
• Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of coordinating or team‑lead experience in customs, logistics, supply‑chain or similar operational environment.
• Solid knowledge of customs legislation and operational processes.
• Degree or equivalent in customs, logistics, international trade, business administration or supply‑chain management.
• Strong command of written and spoken English.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop operational teams.

Required skills

• Experience with customs platforms or digital workflow tools.
• Familiarity with automation solutions and data‑entry automation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
