Financial Controller

About the role

Constance Le Chaland, a luxury hotel on the south-eastern coast of Mauritius, is looking for a Financial Controller. The role covers the integrity and accuracy of financial records, the management of the Finance Department and the oversight of financial reporting, budgeting and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Certify the accuracy of the General Ledger and statutory financial statements and ensure compliance with local legislation, accounting standards and taxation requirements.
• Manage internal and external financial audits, oversee month-end and year-end closing, and review and approve monthly financial reports.
• Monitor cash flow, banking transactions and treasury functions, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Oversee budget preparation, forecasting and financial planning, and analyse financial performance to recommend improvements.
• Direct the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, recruit, train and evaluate finance staff, and set departmental objectives.
• Act as liaison between the hotel, auditors, banks, tax authorities and corporate finance teams, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field; ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent highly preferred; MBA an advantage.
• Minimum 3-5 years in a senior finance management position, preferably in hospitality.
• Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, internal controls, audits, tax compliance and statutory reporting.
• Experience with hotel accounting systems and ERP software.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and hospitality financial operations and cost control.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software.
• Knowledge of local tax regulations and statutory requirements.
• Analytical, leadership and communication skills, with accuracy, integrity and confidentiality.
