Kitchen Commis – Full‑time

About the role

The Kitchen Commis supports the daily operations of the restaurant at C Mauritius, working under the supervision of the Executive Chef. The role involves preparing meals, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring a smooth hand‑over between shifts. It is ideal for energetic, open‑minded individuals who enjoy a fast‑paced hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Check daily meals and set up the kitchen for service.
• Perform all necessary MEP (mise en place) tasks for the day.
• Laminate products with correct labeling and production dates, then store them appropriately.
• Cook meals under the supervision of the senior chef.
• Keep the work environment safe and clean, cleaning equipment after each use.
• Conduct proper hand‑over with the next shift and train/coach trainees.
• Maintain compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act and local health codes.
• Promote energy efficiency and environmentally friendly actions.

Required profile

• National Certificate Level 3 in food preparation or a related field.
• Fluency in English and French, both spoken and written.
• Strong team player with a flexible approach to work schedules.
• Commitment to personal hygiene and grooming standards.
