Kitchen Technician

About the role

The Kitchen Technician ensures preventive maintenance, repair, and optimal operation of all commercial kitchen equipment at the hotel, minimizing breakdowns and supporting seamless hotel operations. This role works closely with engineering, culinary and stewarding teams to keep the kitchen running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, gas and refrigeration‑related faults.
• Maintain ovens, cooking ranges, fryers, refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, dishwashers, mixers and food warmers.
• Carry out regular inspections, cleaning, lubrication and replacement of defective parts.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report recurring or critical issues.
• Monitor cooking gas consumption and ensure stock availability.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and hotel operating standards.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Culinary and Stewarding teams.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Engineering Supervisor.

Required profile

• Recognised technical qualification in Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, or Commercial Kitchen Equipment Maintenance.
• Minimum three years’ hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing commercial kitchen equipment.
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, refrigeration and gas‑powered systems.
• Previous experience in a hotel, resort or commercial kitchen environment; luxury hospitality experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault‑finding skills; ability to work independently and handle urgent breakdowns.
• Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams and equipment specifications.
• Highly adaptable, safety‑conscious and comfortable in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
