Micro Laboratory Analyst – Mauritius

About the role

The laboratory is seeking a Micro Laboratory Analyst to perform a wide range of analytical tests on water, wastewater, soil, air, food, cosmetics and plant samples. The role includes on‑site sampling, reagent preparation, equipment verification and providing technical assistance while ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct analysis of water (potable, borehole, surface, pool, cooling tower), wastewater, soil, air, food, cosmetics and related samples.
• Develop, standardise and validate analytical methods; participate in proficiency testing schemes.
• Manage reagent stocks, prepare media and standards, and maintain calibration/verification records.
• Ensure results are released within agreed turnaround times and document measurement uncertainty.
• Maintain Good Laboratory Practice and support internal and external audits.
• Update quality documents, implement improvements to the Quality Management System and report deviations.
• Design and advise on proper sampling procedures, perform risk assessments and propose cost‑effective sampling plans.

Required profile

• Mauritian citizenship (mandatory).
• Relevant qualification in microbiology, environmental science or a related laboratory discipline.
• Experience in a ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
