Operations & Boarding Officer

About the role

The Operations & Boarding Officer is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Port Louis. You will coordinate vessel arrivals and departures, manage port documentation, and act as the primary liaison between ship masters, port authorities, and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate vessel port calls, including arrivals, berthing, and departures.
• Prepare, verify, and process all required port documentation.
• Board vessels to handle formalities, check documentation, and address crew, cargo, and ship needs.
• Monitor vessel operations, track costs related to each call, and support invoicing and basic financial reporting.
• Resolve operational issues promptly and maintain accurate records.
• Provide timely updates to principals and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth agency services.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with crew, authorities, and internal teams.
• Analytical mindset to assess operational situations and anticipate issues.
• Basic understanding of finance for cost tracking and billing accuracy.
• Previous experience in shipping, port operations, logistics, or maritime services is highly beneficial.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays according to vessel schedules.
• Attention to detail, reliability under pressure, and commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard office software (email, spreadsheets, word processing).
• Familiarity with port or shipping systems is an advantage.
