Room Attendant

About the role

Constance Le Chaland, a luxury resort on the south-eastern coast of Mauritius, is hiring a Room Attendant. The role covers general room cleaning, guest service and liaison with the housekeeping team, in a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Clean rooms generally: remove dirty linen after departure and replace it with clean, undamaged linen, remove trash and traces of guests' belongings, and replace bathroom amenities.
• Meet additional guest requests such as extra beds, extra amenities or loaned items, and liaise with housekeeping staff so incoming guests' needs are met.
• Handle guest queries and complaints quickly and politely, and check electrical appliances and technical items such as locks, blackout shades, showers, water supply, WC flush, blinds and curtains.
• Manage the stock of the pantry and trolley, and sign in and out of keys and return them after work.
• Monitor the progress of trainees and report hazards, accidents or suspicious activity to the Duty Manager.
• Follow the hotel's dress, appearance and conduct codes, and comply with health and safety, fire and emergency procedures.

Required profile

• Middle or secondary education; additional training or certificates in the field are a plus.
• At least 1 year of experience in the hotel industry; proven experience in top luxury resorts is a plus.
• Fluency in English or another language, written and spoken; knowledge of a second language is a plus.

Required skills

• Excellent organisation and time management.
• Superb customer service and the ability to resolve guest complaints promptly and politely.
• Detailed knowledge of and compliance with housekeeping policies, procedures and standards.
• Experience with industrial cleaning equipment and products is a plus.
