Housekeeping Supervisor

About the role

Constance Le Chaland, a luxury resort on the south-eastern coast of Mauritius, is looking for a Housekeeping Supervisor. The role covers supervision of room cleaning and hygiene, equipment maintenance, staff coordination and quality control, and acts as a stand-in for the Assistant Executive Housekeeper when absent.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise room cleaning and hygiene, and supervise cleaning and maintenance of equipment, reporting defects immediately
• Rotate employees between jobs when needed and check punctuality
• Eliminate work hazards and check safety and fire regulations
• Ensure adequate stock of guest amenities, chemicals and other department items
• Check work delegated to subordinates and correct mistakes immediately
• Teach and train subordinates to raise quality and production, and get involved with energy saving
• Maintain good communication between departments, including with the laundry staff, and ensure procedures are followed
• Control staff grooming and attire, motivate staff and build effective employee relationships
• Replace a room attendant when requested by the Executive Housekeeper
• Perform the duties of the Assistant Executive Housekeeper in her/his absence

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the hotel industry; proven experience in a top luxury resort is a plus
• At least 1 year of professional experience on a similar position is a plus
• General knowledge of guest room activities
• Good knowledge of cleaning and maintenance, and ability to use industrial cleaning equipment and products
• Excellent organisational and team management skills, stamina for the physical demands of the job, and good time management
• Fluent English, written and spoken; knowledge of a second language is a plus
• Secondary education, with additional training or certificates in the field a plus
