Senior Tax Consultant

About the role

Apex Group, a fund administration and middle office solutions provider founded in Bermuda in 2003, is hiring a Senior Tax Consultant. The role covers tax computations, returns and compliance, liaison with the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA), and technical support to client service units.

Key responsibilities

• Review tax, PAYE, TDS, CSG and VAT computations and returns, and coordinate timely filing of quarterly and annual returns for all clients.
• Monitor client tax compliance through tax reports and KPIs, and prepare and maintain tax processes.
• Support internal tax training and update sessions, coach junior staff and review their work.
• Provide technical tax support to client service units, and help draft tax technical papers and new procedures.
• Maintain a database of MRA rulings, domestic and international tax cases, and review MRA queries, advising client service units and liaising with MRA officers on behalf of clients.
• Assist with applications for tax rulings, written representations to the ARC, and tax analysis of Mauritian tax matters.
• Research domestic and international tax issues, review changes in tax law and implement them, and carry out any other duties assigned by the Manager and Directors.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in the global business sector, with familiarity with different vehicle structures.
• Degree or substantially completed ACA or ACCA qualification.
• Thorough knowledge of the tax dispute and resolution process in Mauritius and comfort liaising with tax authorities.
• Experience drafting and reviewing memos or technical papers.
• Strong attention to detail, organisation, autonomy, teamwork and decision-making skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of tax computations and tax disputes in Mauritius.
• Good knowledge of IFRS.
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
