About the role

The Mahatma Gandhi Institute and Rabindranath Tagore Institute are inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates outside the service to be enlisted as Supply Teachers (Secondary) for the subjects listed below in their secondary schools. Enlistment is purely temporary, as and when the need arises during the academic year 2026.

• Chemistry
• Economics
• Modern Chinese (Mandarin)
• Music: Indian vocal music (Carnatic) and instrumental music (Mridangam)
• Performing arts: Classical dance (Kuchipudi)
• Telugu

Required profile

• Candidates must not have reached their 70th birthday by the closing date; priority goes to young graduates, and candidates up to 70 are enlisted in scarcity areas.
• For the music and dance subjects, candidates without the qualifications listed below may be considered if they hold a Diploma pitched at Level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework.

Required qualifications

• A Cambridge School Certificate with credit in at least five subjects including English, obtained at not more than two sittings, or GCSE Ordinary Level passes not below Grade C in at least five subjects including English (with the conditions stated in the notice).
• A Cambridge Higher School Certificate or GCSE Advanced Level passes in at least two subjects on one certificate.
• A degree or joint degree in the subject to be taught from a recognised institution, or a Bachelor of Education in the subject, or the equivalent accepted by the council.
• Candidates without a credit in English at Cambridge School Certificate may still be considered if they have Principal-level and Subsidiary-level passes and the General Paper on one certificate.

What we offer

• Monthly allowance of Rs 29,477 for the lower qualification and Rs 35,353 for the higher qualification, plus salary compensation at approved rates (PRB 2026), paid pro rata on days of attendance.
• Refund of bus fares on the basis of days of attendance.

Applications are made on the prescribed form, available at the institute reception counters or online, and must include copies of birth, marriage (if applicable), academic and professional certificates, transcripts, evidence of teaching experience and a Certificate of Character.
