Temporary Part-Time Teacher - Travel & Tourism Module

About the role

The Mahatma Gandhi Institute is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to teach a module in Travel and Tourism on a purely temporary and/or part-time basis. The position is open to candidates aged under 65 at the closing date, with priority given to young graduates; older candidates may be considered in scarcity areas.

Required profile

• Cambridge Higher School Certificate, or two passes on one General Certificate of Education Advanced Level certificate.
• A degree in Travel and Tourism Management or Tourism and Hospitality Management from a recognised institution.
• A master's degree in the relevant field from a recognised institution.
• Equivalent qualifications accepted by the MGI & RTI Council, with the earlier qualification obtained before the later one.
• Candidates who did not meet qualification A by 30 June 2008 but hold qualifications B and C may be considered if they also hold a Cambridge School Certificate or Ordinary Level GCE passes (five or six subjects including English, with at least Grade C in two or one subjects respectively), and a PhD, second master's degree or postgraduate diploma.
• In scarcity areas, candidates with qualification B alone may be considered.
• Experience in teaching and research is desirable.

Required skills

• Computer literacy.
• Written evidence of equivalence of qualifications and of claimed knowledge and experience must be submitted with the application.

What we offer

• Full-time temporary salary of Rs 41,735 per month plus salary compensation at approved rates.
• Part-time fees: short course Rs 545.57, certificate level Rs 888.61, diploma level Rs 1,080.20, degree and postgraduate level Rs 1,270.83 per hour.
• Bus fare refunded according to the number of days of attendance at approved rates.
