About the role

Constance Le Chaland, a luxury resort on the south-eastern coast of Mauritius, is hiring a waiter or waitress through its partner Hosco in Plaine Magnien. The role covers table setting, serving guests and supporting the restaurant team in a calm, ocean-view environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain mise en place and complete it before service starts; send polished cutlery to the stewarding department as assigned.
• Carry food and beverages from kitchen or bar to the service area professionally.
• Serve guests according to set standards and procedures, and collect soiled dishes for the dishwashing area.
• Set up tables, pick up requisitions from the storeroom and set up display or buffet counters with plates and cutlery.
• Assist the Chef de Rang, the hostess in seating guests and maintain cleanliness in the outlet, service station and back area.
• Know the menu, chef's specials, buffet items and beverage list by heart; answer guest queries and refer complaints or suggestions to the Outlet Manager or assistants.
• Never carry an empty tray between restaurant and kitchen, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Middle or secondary education; additional training or certificates in the field are a plus.
• At least 1 year of experience in the hotel industry on a similar position, including training.
• Proven experience in a top luxury resort is a plus.
• Fluency in English, written and spoken; knowledge of a second language is a plus.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with a cash register and ordering information system.
• Multi-tasking and ability to work well in fast-paced environments.
• Team spirit, active listening and effective communication.
