Senior 3rd Line Network Engineer

About the role

Rank Interactive, the digital arm of The Rank Group, is seeking an experienced 3rd Line Network Engineer to own and support a complex enterprise network estate across corporate and retail environments. This senior, hands‑on position involves troubleshooting high‑impact issues, leading network improvements, and contributing to technical projects that keep the business secure, resilient, and connected.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 3rd‑line support for enterprise network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, wireless and network services.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Checkpoint, Fortinet, Cisco and Meraki devices.
• Diagnose complex network problems, identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
• Apply, review and manage firewall rules, policies and configurations.
• Collaborate with ISPs, vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless connectivity.
• Lead technical projects from design and testing through implementation.
• Manage upgrades, patches, backups and security configurations with minimal disruption.
• Follow ITIL‑aligned incident, problem and change management processes.
• Mentor junior engineers and act as Team Lead when required.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and support audit remediation.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise or service‑provider networking.
• 5+ years of hands‑on firewall experience.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, network security, firewall/DMZ design and enterprise networking.
• Experience with Cisco and Meraki environments; Checkpoint or Fortinet experience is desirable.
• CCNA and CCNP (or equivalent) certifications.
• Working knowledge of ITIL practices (incident, problem, change).
• Proficiency with monitoring and diagnostic tools such as SolarWinds.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and communication skills.
